September 8

This has been a particularly horrific year for typhoons in Japan. However, usually the typhoons don't really make it up to Hokkaido. Usually we just get some wind and rain from the typhoons that hit Honshu (the main island of Japan). However, we got a whopper of a typhoon today! I was at Asahikawa Commercial High School and the wind and rain was ridiculously strong. At lunchtime, they decided to cancel school for the day.

There was a reception for Ms. Ueno, a Judo gold medalist from Asahikawa, that afternoon.

Recently, I've been baking bread when I have free times on the weekend. The picture here on the right is of the bread-making ingredients.

Here's the dough, finished and in pans.

Here's the finished product!

Jason was in this weekend, so we took a trip to the zoo. We ran into Lavonda and some friends of hers, so we got our picture taken together. There is a new seal exhibit there that is very popular, and with good reason I think.

This little monkey was cute, too.
