Hanabi in Kagura
The fireworks in Kagura (the area south
of the Asahikawa train station) is one of the last summer festivals
held in Asahikawa. The fireworks display is usually really impressive.
My friend Sarah is part of a taiko drumming group and her
group was performing at the festival. She was in full taiko
dress for the event, as you can see in the picture on the right
(Sarah's on the left, Lavonda on the right).

Travis, Jessie, and Lavonda also joined
in the festivites (L to R).

Sapporo Newcomers Orientation
Well, it's time again for a new crop
of ALTs to grace Hokkaido with their internationalization skills
and English prowess. I went to represent HAJET
as the webmaster and also just to help out. During the day were
meetings and then a welcome party in the evening.
|

This is the old Hokkaido Government Building, which is where the
meetings were held.
|

Tami and James. James gave quite possibly the best talk I've ever
been to while on the JET Program.
|

Of course, the masks were <ahem> interesting...
|

The party was at the Kirin Beer Garden
